Eurocampus
Dirk Breuer has joined the Eurocampus Commission and will be responsible for monitoring the progress of the work and keeping you regularly informed of the ongoing operations. A big thank you to him and to all the members of this group working towards better safety, cleanliness, and improvement of our premises, with an initial feedback:
On Monday, May 20, 2024, the president of the German committee held an informational meeting regarding the work. All parents and teachers from both schools were invited to participate in this exchange.
During this meeting, all questions sent by email in advance, as well as those asked during the meeting, were answered. A site visit with the parents and teachers took place afterward.
The primary concern is the safety of the students, teachers, and Eurocampus staff.
Throughout the work, the project owner, the architecture firm, and the construction company comply with not only local legislation but also German regulations, especially concerning safety, by performing all required tests and inspections. It is important to note that no traces of asbestos or other harmful substances were found.
All responsible parties are in close and regular contact to ensure safety and cleanliness during the work. For example, in consultation with school officials, the contractor limits the use of the school's staircases as much as possible. The company also tries to minimize noisy and dusty work during school hours by working on weekends as well. All stakeholders, including students and teachers, are and will be made aware to act responsibly and cautiously during the work. Anticipating potential problems is a key focus.
The separation of the construction area and the area still in use for classes was done very quickly, minimizing the inevitable disturbances caused by the work. Furthermore, the necessary dismantling to begin the transformation work is nearing completion (about 80% reached at the time of the meeting). The noise and dust nuisances should significantly decrease.
Continuation of the work:
The major works will be carried out during the summer months. The goal is to work without interruption to deliver the entire wing with the library and cafeteria by the end of September.
The rooms located in the basement, following the requests of the French side, are also under renovation to make them operational as soon as possible.
From September, a large enclosed and heated outdoor tent for sports and other activities will be installed.
